Somatic Pilates is a gentle, mind-body approach that fuses traditional Pilates exercises with somatics—a practice focused on internal sensation, mindfulness, and slow, deliberate movement. Instead of focusing on repetition or intensity, it emphasizes conscious control to release chronic muscular tension, improve mobility, and rewire movement patterns.
The Pilates world has changed dramatically in the last few years as it’s increased in popularity, with that the principles of Pilates of have been lost to intensify and add a quicker pace to the practice. Somatic Pilates slows down the movements, to reset the nervous system and learn to slow the mind and body down to feel and find where our body wants to be, versus telling it where it needs to go into a position.
